This vintage (1970s) artwork from Mexico features a stunning 24"x24", yarn painting w/beeswax and wood. The piece is a beautiful example of Huichol Wixarika culture, with deer, star and symbols designs that are sure to impress any collector. The deer is a symbol of utmost importance and is considered an intermediary between humans and the Gods. The Star symbol often represents guidance and navigation in the dark. It is also symbol of the cosmos and divine mystery. The Huichols often see stars as lights that guide the spirits of the dead on their journey to the other world.
The Huichol people are indigenous people of the mountains between Zacatecas and Nayarit, Mexico.
