Phone 5H Dial 1948; with E-1 1936 handset a "spit cup" on the end of the handset

however the gentleman that I bought it from was a telephone expert with probably 100 vintage phones in his garage and he had a switching device to be able to connect to any of his working phones. This may well be a working phone as it has all of the working parts. But again, I am no telephone lineman so what do I know? If nothing else, it is an elegant specimen of early mass-produced phones in that era.
