Description
This is a "WESTERN ELECTRIC" 1930 Telephone & Supply Catalog. It is un-numbered, but must be #8 as the 1929 catalog was #7.
This was the era of Coin Collectors and the No. 7J (Nickels Only)
was probably most popular as it was just the "Collector" and would work with any phone. (Try to find one now!)
Then there was the "50Type Coin Collector"
similar to the later 3-slotters.
There were also several types of "Gray Pay Stations".
Magneto Telephones were probably still the most popular as little of the country had gone to "Machine Switching" or "Central Battery".
The "1317" wood wall magneto (probably close to the last of the wood phones) was the most popular at the time.
Interesting though, Western was
showing their metal wall phones with dials and their Candlestick phones mostly with apparatus blanks.
The "E1B" handset was the handset of the day and was shown with the "D-1" (oval) base as simply the mounting for the Handset.
The "B-1" (round) base had been discontinued at this time although you could still order parts for it.
Western Electric catalogs had so much information you could spend days browsing thru them!
