Description
Walnut Two Box Monarch Pre – 1909 Crank Phone - Rings when cranked. Okay, except one seam came unglued and needs re-glued. Needs refinished. Not very ordinary for three reasons: 1. Walnut. Walnut indicates an earlier manufacturer. There were fewer walnuts then oaks. 2. Nameplate says made in Chicago. This also indicates an earlier age since Monarch more recently moved to Fort Wayne Iowa. 3. It's a Monarch, a company that began manufacturing phones in around 1901. This would be very very attractive when refinished. A “key” (or small screwdriver) is required to open the top box door. I didn't pursue it. It rings when cranked.P
