    Description

NEW YORK WORLDS FAIR 1940 GLASSES GLASSWARE 43 PIECE SET BOXED LIBBEY UNUSED AMAZING FIND. PICK UP ONLY. Here is a one of a kind 81 year old full set of 1940 NYWF glassware set made by Libbey. I bought this box sealed almost 20 years ago, the tape on top was beginning to fall off so I opened it to see if there was any damage inside and to my delight all the glassware was fully intact just as it was in 1940. I doubt that this was a set offered to the general public since it doesn't advertise the fair on the outside. This was used to fill an area at the fair then the box would have been discarded. This is a full set of 43 pieces which is mentioned on the box. Here is the breakdown:
    8- Juice Glasses  - 3.5" tall
    8- Tumblers----------3.75"
    8- Water Glasses--4 .75"
    8- Ice Tea Glasses-5.25"
8- Clear Glass Stirrers With Red Tips in paper
1- Large Glass Ice Bucket- 5.5" Diam.
    2- Clear Glass Coasters unmarked.
The 8 different fired on building scenes as follows:
    1- World's Fair Theme Building
    2- Textile Building
    3- Transportation Building
4- Medicine and Public Health Building
5- George Washington (Super rare potentially prototype)
    6- Business and Administration Building
    7- Administration Building
    8- Music Building
I have never seen the George Washington glass before and cannot find any online. All of these are dusty, I never cleaned any of them. The box is almost perfect with "40" on the bottom. All the dividers/ inserts are in the box. The end flaps are fine. There is a light red crayon mark on two sides that say "World's Fair Set" This was kept in a clean dry area for 60 years and then by me the last 21 years. A real time capsule to one of the greatest World's Fairs. Please check out my other vintage items. Please ask any question that you may have. PICK UP ONLY IN EAST WINDSOR NJ 08520. Thank you, Dave
