    Description

Huichol mask hand beaded Mexican mask..
The beading style known as Huichol (pronounced wet-chol) is generally ascribed to a process of covering a 3-dimensional form in a single layer of beads, like a mosaic, but with distinctive patterns using geometric shapes and bright colors.
The origin of Huichol art lies in an ancient tradition, physical transcription of the images displayed by the Huichol shamans; induced by ingestion of peyote (hikuri), their sacred cactus, allowing them to cross the threshold of the unknown and thus relate to the divine.
