Beautiful, bright red and orange Huichol yarn art wood angelfish figurine.  Handmade by the Mexican Huichol Indian artist Jose Montoya in Mexico.  Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche beeswax onto this iron wood figurine and adding strands of yarn by hand, this bright and colorful angel fish depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.
Huichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico.

Details:
Jose hand carved this figurine from a single piece of iron wood into the shape of an angelfish on a pedestal.  Then he added the Campeche wax and yarns in the colors of red for the Huichol fire and strength, orange for the sacred grounds called Wirikuta and black for earth and accent.  Jose Montoya created a beautiful symbolic message for the Huichol Gods.  Symbols are very important for communication by the Huichol during the ceremonies by the Shaman leaders.
The angelfish is symbolic of moving forward, forgiveness, cleansing and unconditional love.  The symbols on this angelfish include the Peyote flower, the corn for successful future crops and the Shaman communications with the Gods.
