    Description

    This is a
    Large Size Huichol Indian
    Multi-Color Beaded wood
    Stylized Owl Face design.
    Each bead has been painstakingly
    hand applied to a bees wax base that covers the heart.
    I have recently
    started to work with a
    new group of Huichol Indians
    and this piece is from my most recent shipment.

    It measures:  8 inches tall by 5 5/8 inches wide by 1 1/4 of an inch deep.
    "The Huichols are an indigenous people who mostly live in the mountainous areas of northern Jalisco and parts of Nayarit in north central Mexico with the towns of San Andrés, Santa Catarina and San Sebastián as major cultural centers. Their numbers are estimated at 50,000 and the name Huichol is derived from the word Wirriarika, which means soothsayer or medicine man in the Huichol language."
