Huichol Beaded Prayer Bowl Hand Carved Gourd Mexican Folk Art Father SunHuichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico. Beautiful, multi-colored glass beaded and hand carved spiritual gourd Shaman prayer bowl.
Using the traditional Huichol techniques of adding glass beads, one by one, this gorgeous bowl depicts the offering message and prayers of the Shaman. The back is hand carved with a ceremony design of a rabbit for fertility, a bird in flight for freedom, zig zag Aztec style trim and peyote cactus leaves.
Campeche beeswax is added to the inside and the design honors the Father Sun.
Father Sun is important for the Shaman leaders for giving influence to the gods, communication with ancestors, messages about the Huichol future crops, rain and healing of the people.
The top of the bowl is trimmed with graduated colors of green beads for successful crops.
The Huichol believe, for anyone that holds it, the prayer bowl offers good wishes.
Such an awesome gift for adding sunshine, honoring awards and future success.
