Huichol Beaded Art Cat Figurine Mexican Folk Art Handmade Ironwood Kitty KittenHuichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico.
Beautiful, multi-colored, glass beaded, hand carved, unpolished ironwood cat figurine sculpture. Handmade by Mexican Huichol Indian
Isaias Bautista Carrillo, Turatemai, in Mexico. Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche beeswax onto this kitty cat sculpture and adding, one-by-one, glass beads this bright and colorful cat depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.
Measurements:
Height: 3 3/4"
Tail to Front Paws: 2 1/8"
Face Side to Back Side: 1 5/8"
Symbols are very important for communication by the Huichol.
On a clear gold with metallic bronze beaded background we see some of the most important symbols outlined in royal blue and platinum gray pearl.
His cute face has white, blue and platinum gray pearl Peyote flower eyes and a clear metallic red mouth.
Two iguanas give messages about the future on his sides.
We love how Isaias turned some of the metallic beads sideways for extra sparkle.
Note: The metallic beads are more valued by the Huichol and cost double compared to the regular beads.
He's (or she's) awesome! Beautiful gift for a cat lover.
We are very fortunate and proud to honor the Huichol Indians with their talented art pieces and thankful to offer their art crafts to you. For this reason, we personally inspect every piece for complete bead details and first class handcrafts.
