Huichol Mexican Indian folk art is truly unique and all handmade by the indigenous people of the Sierra Madre mountains in Jalisco, Mexico.
Beautiful, multi-colored, glass beaded, handmade molded plastic and clay figurine sculpture.  Handmade by the Mexican Huichol Indian
Isaias Bautista Carrillo, Turatemai, in Mexico.  Using the traditional Huichol techniques of pressing Campeche beeswax onto this Saint Juan Diego sculpture and adding glass beads,
    one-by-one,
this beautiful figurine depicts the offering message to the Huichol Gods.
Symbols are very important for communication by the Huichol Mexican Indians.
As the story is told, an indigenous Aztec peasant named Juan Diego had visions of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the hill of Tepeyac.  She asked that Juan Diego go the bishop and request a chapel be built in her honor so that she could help heal the sick.  Juan Diego delivered the message to the bishop, but was told to come back another time.  On the same day, the Virgin appeared at Tepeyac again and Juan Diego was told to return to the bishop.  The bishop requested a sign that he was telling the truth.  The Virgin asked him to go to the hill full of cactus where he found beautiful red roses blooming amongst the brush.  Juan Diego gathered the flowers in his mantle and delivered them to the bishop who noticed that the flowers had left an image of the Virgin inside his poncho.  Several more apparitions of the Virgin proved his request and a small chapel was erected at the hill of Tepeyac.
On this figurine, Saint Juan Diego holds open his mantle and inside is a brilliant 3D figurine of Our Lady of Guadalupe who is standing on the well-known crescent moon that being held up by small angel at the base of her gown.  The entire figurine is hand painted and decorated with micro glass beads.  The Huichol Indian artist, Isaias, Turatemai, has
signed this figurine and provided a certificate of authenticity with his signature
    .
