  • Condition: Nice working example of an earlier "Mercedes" telephone dial, with the scarcely-seen Party-Line Number Ring. Number Ring is slightly faded after 80+ years of age. Has a Solid-Brass polished Finger wheel that really sets it off!The finger-wheel returns smoothly when pulled around to the finger stop, just as it should. The "clickity-click" of the movement is absolutely rhythmic as it clicks away at 10pps.

    NOTE:
    A good collector friend lent some expertise on this dial. His information is below:
    "Ray, I don't believe the Mercedes dial is a party line dial.  It's a
    dial that has letters for the various central offices in large cities
    like Dallas in the early teens and twenties.  The customer dialed the
    central office letter first and then the number if that office.The
    offices were connected by trunk lines."
