    Description

    Apollo God Of Light and black Raven terracotta ceramic plate. Signed on back; Exact Copy 430 BC, Handmade in Greece, Initials J. M. M. Approx 7 3/4” across x 3/4” h.
    Design depicts a typical representation of Apollo, god of light and music, on a white background. The god is depicted wearing a white chiton (a type of robe) fastened with brooches at the shoulders while a red cloak. His long hair is tied back, and he is wearing a crown of myrtle leaves. He is offering a libation with his right hand, while he holds a lyre fashioned from a tortoise shell in his left. The lyre is one of Apollo's Symbols of Power.
    Preowned, good condition, light wear on black paint around the rim. No cracks, and no chips.
