Antique Vintage Brass - DOANE & WELLINGTON AUTOMATIC 1883 PATENT - BLOW TORCH.
The blow torch measures 10 1/4 inches tall and 5 3/8 inches across the bottom.  Signed on the tube bracket - PAT. SEP.3.83. AUTOMATIC TORCH DOANE & WELLINGTON MF'G CO. 496 CHERRY ST. N.Y. CITY U.S.A.  Signed on the top of the handle - WELLINGTON'S PAT. SEP.4.83.  Somebody at some point decided it was a great idea to electrify this piece and turn it into a lamp.....  The brass rod extending up needs to be removed where there once was a cap.  The plunger at the back they have shortened and soldered so it does not move in and out, it is stationary.  There is a hole drilled in the center of the base and another drilled on the bottom edge of the base.  They did not mess with the handle or the front section.
