Description
Up for your consideration is a Jennings Brothers (JB) figurative pincushion in the shape of a high-heeled shoe, celebrating the 1939 New York World's Fair. The front of the shoe has an attached oval plaque that reads NEW YORK WORLD'S FAIR and displays the iconic images of that World's Fair - the Trylon and the Perisphere. There is a bow over the oval. The shoe is made of metal and painted gold. Some flaking has occurred. There is burgundy velvet material over the pincushion section that has been damaged over time, revealing the wood sawdust filling (see the last photo for a view in which I have pulled open the velvet material). Otherwise, the pincushion is in good condition. The pincushion stand 2 1/8 inches tall at the back heel, measures 3 inches long and about 1 inch wide, and weighs 6 1/8 ounces.
The underside is marked: JB 1423.
Please see all of the photos.
Thanks for looking and good luck bidding!
